• Starting the Game
  • Click the blue button with the white triangle on it at the bottom of the screen.
    • When you begin the game it will display a 4 screen help section which you can scroll through using the left and right arrows in the interface or skip past using the arrow in the lower right corner.
  • The upper right corner of the welcome screen has a sound control button.
  • Your high score is stored in your local web browser.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop: Click your mouse where you want to shoot.
    • Infected Betties: Shoot them before they attack and shoot down and projectiles they launch at you. Each infected Betty you hit increases your score multiplier, though your combo bonus resets when you hit a real Betty.
    • Ammunition: Keep an eye on your ammunition meter shown on the left side of the screen. Click the button at the bottom of it when you are out of ammunition or are low on ammunition and there is a break in the action.
    • Health: The health meter shows how much health you have remaining. Periodically Simon will give you a heart container, which boosts your health when you shoot it.
  • Mobile or Touchscreen: Tap your screen and use your finger like a mouse on desktop.
  • The game interface has a home button in the upper left corner, and buttons to pause the game or turn sound on or off in the upper right corner.
• Strategy
  • Avoiding death
    • While your health bar looks large, it only takes 3 hits from full health to die.
      • Try to keep your health bar full at all times. Heart containers thrown by Simon only appear momentarily before disappearing.
      • If you run out of bullets it is very easy to get hit by a projectile. It is ok to reload early if you are down to a few bullets.
      • If you rush shooting you may shoot a real Betty, which can cost you 1/3 of your health bar.
      • If you try to shoot a projectile right before it hits you but then are too late you could end up getting hit by the projectile then having your stray bullet hit a real Betty. If you health is anything less than full when that sequence happens it is game over.
      • Similarly, if you are down to one hit left and try to shoot a heart container but a real Betty runs in front of your shot that is also game over.
    • It is better to miss hitting a few infected Betties and block off all their projectiles and have health and ammunition left over than to try to thread the needle and die.
  • Shooting accuracy
    • You score bonuses for each consecutive correct shot you make.
      • If you shoot an Infected Betty, a projectile, a heart container or the reload button such shots do not count against your streak.
      • If you shoot a real Betty or shoot air then your streak ends & your multiple starts back at zero.
      • If you do not hit an Infected Betty that you did not fire at then that does not count against your streak.
      • As you advance through the game there can be many moving objects on the screen at once. The easiest way to tell an infected Betty from a real Betty is the skin tone.
    • You can hit any part of an Infected Betty – including the hat.
      • Conversely, you can accidentally hit any part of a real Betty.
      • When a real Betty is near the front of the screen or is near an infected Betty be sure to track movement patterns and relative movements so you do not hit the real Betty.
  • Restarting the game
    • When the game is over there is a blue button with a circle white arrow on it to replay the game.
    • Clicking this enables you to play again while skipping the tutorial introduction.
