• Starting the Game
  • Press the play button in the center of the welcome screen to start the game.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Move left by pressing the A key or the left arrow key.
    • Move right by pressing the D key or the right arrow key.
    • Jump by pressing the W key or the up arrow key.
    • Press the Q key or the P key to use special powers.
    • Press the R key to reset the current level.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • The lower left corner of the screen has the move left and right keys.
    • Press the on-screen Y key to use special powers.
    • Press the on-screen X key to jump.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The box in the upper left shows which elemental power you have charged.
    • Below the box in the upper left are key outlines showing how many keys there are to collect in the level. If you already collected the key the outline will also show a key inside it.
    • The upper right corner of the screen has a pause button, which shows a level select overlay.
      • The level select overlay shows which levels are unlocked and if you collected the black apple in each stage.
      • While the game is paused the upper right corner has buttons for music control and sound control, as well as unpausing the game.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • This is a platformer game where you play as a walking leaf which can take on special powers.
      • Run into the icons of the special powers to charge them up.
      • The same icon can be used repeatedly to recharge the power after using it.
      • Early in the game you can only have one power up charged at a time. On the final level you can have 2 power ups charged.
        • When you charge up multiple powers they are used in a first-in-last-out (FILO) order.
    • You must avoid the green slime or you die.
    • Make it to the glowing orb to unlock the next stage.
    • Each level also has a key (or set of keys) in it which you can collect to earn an apple.
  • Powers
    • Wind – floats you to the top of the screen wherever you are.
      • Using this often required jumping hard to the side in one direction or another to avoid slime.
      • You can float through chains but can not float through platforms.
    • Rock – allows you to create a temporary platform to stand on.
      • Temporary platforms can also be used to hold down red buttons.
        • The platforms disappear within a second of you standing on them or standing next to them while touching them.
      • You can leave one rock on the screen while charging up and holding another rock credit.
        • As soon as you lay the second rock the first rock disappears.
      • You can drop rocks through green slime and rocks can stand on platforms even if those platforms are covered in blue slime.
    • Fire – allows you to jump back and forth scaling walls.
      • The fire burns wooden planks.
      • The fire goes out if you move through water.
    • Water – allows you to fall through chain flooring.
  • Levels
    • This game has 21 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time from the level select screen.
    • Black apples
      • Each stage has at least one key on it.
        • Grabbing the keys allows you to collect the apple when the level is complete.
        • You can see how many keys there are to collect by looking at the key icons below the power up box in the upper left.
        • Some keys are located on the other side of false walls (like the lower right of level 7 or upper left of level 14), or off screen high (like level 11).
      • You can beat a level without collecting the keys/apple.
        • If you missed a key you can go back and collect it on a subsequent play.
        • The keys are not needed to complete the game, though you get an alternate ending if you collect all the keys, enabling you to give the hedgehog all of the black apples.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You beat the level by making it to the glowing energy orb at the end of each stage.
      • You lose if you run into green slime.
      • This game offers unlimited continues starting you at the beginning of any failed level.
  • Tips
    • Given the precise timing required to beat this game it is recommended to play it on a keyboard with fixed keys rather than a mobile device with on-screen buttons.
    • This game requires rather precise timing to beat. If you find a particular level challenging you can:
      • skip getting the key and come back to it later after beating the level without getting the key
      • check out the walkthrough video below to see how to beat each stage while grabbing each key
    • Using powers together
      • There are many ways to use the power ups that work together.
      • On some stage you drop a rock and then have to grab another rock credit before stepping on the first rock.
      • On some stages you have to use a rock to make a high jump but have a wind credit stored up to make a subsequent floating jump.
      • In some cases (like level 12) you need to time dropping a rock onto a moving platform so that you can use it to make a jump later in the stage.
      • On some stages you’ll need to drop a rock platform to hold a button down to make a platform accessible & then drop a rock on that platform to make the prior rock disappear.
