• Starting the Game
  • Press the PLAY button in the bottom center of the welcome screen to start the game.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your high score.
  • The upper left corner of the welcome screen has a fullscreen mode button.
  • The upper right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for controlling game sound and how to play advice.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Press the arrow keys to move your boat left and right.
    • Press the spacebar to shoot at the ships or aircraft directly above you.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Use the on-screen controls.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The upper left corner has colored anchors representing how many spare lives you have.
    • Your current game score is shown top center.
    • The upper right has a War Machine meter and then 2 buttons for sound control and how to play information.
      • The War Machine meter fills as you shoot ships.
      • When the War Machine meter is full your ship converts and it shows how many seconds you have until the feature turns off.
    • The lower left corner shows the current wave number.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • This game is similar to Space Invaders except it has a nautical theme.
      • Shoot the enemies and evade their shots.
      • The game starts off with 4 protective islands which can take 30 hits each. After 30 hits those islands disappear & never return, even as you advance through further waves.
    • Enemies
      • Each ship or plane takes only one hit to destroy.
      • Ships shoot straight down at you.
      • Airplanes can shoot a scatter shot which fans out across the screen.
    • Dying
      • If any bullets hit your ship you die.
      • You get an extra life each time you clear a wave.
  • War Machine
    • After about 15 hits of enemy ships you charge up War Machine mode, which allows your ship to shoot faster, though also makes you a wider target.
    • War Machine mode lasts for 20 seconds & can last across waves.
  • Waves
    • Each time you clear all the ships from the screen the current wave ends & you move onto the next wave a few seconds later.
    • Whenever you beat a wave you get an extra life. You can carry a maximum of 3 lives.
    • Ships move from side to side of the screen & whenever they reach an edge of a screen they change direction and move down a row.
    • When a wave ends the next wave begins a few seconds later. Any bullets which were on the screen from the prior wave remain.
  • Scoring
    • Each ship you shoot is worth 10 points.
    • Each airplane you shoot is worth 50 points.
    • Your game score is cumulative across all waves.
  • Strategy
    • Try to start each wave off toward the right side of the screen as that is the direction the boats move in first.
    • Try to be out in front of the opposing ships moving in the direction they are moving and have them move into your shots.
    • Boats which are further away give you more time to react, so if you are about to activate the War Machine power up try to ensure you deal with boats low on the screen before it is activated so that the edges of your ship do not catch a stray shot.
    • Avoid trying to play catch up with ships out in front of you, particularly if you have the War Machine power up which makes your boat wider.
    • If you do not have enough time to evade an incoming shot sometimes you can shoot the bullet with a bullet in the opposing direction.
