• Starting the Game
  • The game is immediately playable once it loads.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Press the arrows on your keyboard to move the tiles.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers and swipe to move the tiles in the desired direction.
  • Controls and indicators
    • Top row (left to right):
      • Refresh move button: Undoes your last action
      • Current score
      • Best score
    • Bottom row
      • Reset button: Clears the game screen and starts the game from the beginning.
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • You start with a 4 x 4 grid and two tiles.
    • Move all the tiles at once in a single direction using your fingers or the arrows on your keyboard.
      • A new tile forms each time you move. This tile appears in any of the tiles you moved.
      • Each tile’s number value appears on its bottom right corner.
    • Identical tiles will merge together.
    • Keep merging to create tiles of greater and greater value (and keep the play area clear).
      • If you make a mistake, select the refresh move button immediately to undo it.
      • You win the game once you form the 2048 tile.
    • The game ends when you have no more space or available moves.
  • Tips
    • Unlike a lot of our other 2048 games, this game has an undo button.
      • You can use this to revert mistakes immediately.
      • However, you must play a bit slower than usual to catch mistakes better.
    • See if you can move your tiles in two directions: down and toward a corner. This will have the largest tiles form in only one spot where it’s easier to merge.
      • We recommend building up the largest tile on the the left corner.
      • Only move your tiles up if there is no other available move.
    • If you somehow move the largest tile out of place and it can’t be placed back (e.g. a new, small-value tile spawned in its original spot), undo the move immediately.
      • Repeat the process as needed; your goal is to have the new tile be generated elsewhere.
      • When you’re done, put back the largest tile in the corner and continue the game.
  • Scoring
    • Each time you merge a pair of tiles, you earn points equal to the sum of the two previous tiles.
    • Your best score updates in real time. When you meet your previous best score, both scores rise in value simultaneously.
