• Starting the Game
  • The game is immediately playable upon loading.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your keyboard, press the arrows to move the tiles.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers and swipe to move all the tiles.
  • Controls and indicators
  • Top row (left to right):
    • Refresh move button: Undoes your last action
    • Current score
    • Best score
  • Bottom row
    • Reset button: Clears your progress and restarts the game from the beginning
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • You begin with a 4 x 4 grid and one or two tiles already present.
    • Move the tiles around using the arrow keys or your fingers.
      • The tiles all move in unison.
      • Each time you move a tile, another one forms somewhere on the side the screen opposite of where you moved.
      • The number value of each tile is shown on its bottom right corner.
    • Tiles that have identical images and values will merge together.
    • Merge as many tiles as you can to build up value and keep the play area clear.
      • If you make a mistake, select the refresh move button immediately to undo it.
      • Keep merging tiles until you form the 2048 tile.
    • The game ends when you run out of space.
  • Tips
    • Unlike many of our other 2048 games, this one has an undo function, which comes in handy but also requires you to slow down.
      • The undo feature can be used to see what tile will come into the playing field next (2 or a 4) & then move accordingly.
      • Note that if you get to where no move is possible it is considered game over & you can’t use the undo button to reset out of the game over condition.
    • As much as possible, try to move your tiles in two directions: down and toward a corner.
      • We recommend choosing the left corner for this task. This will keep the largest-valued tile in a single spot throughout the game.
      • Move the tiles up only if no other option is available.
    • If you end up moving the largest tile out of place and it can’t be placed back (e.g. a new, small-value tile spawned beneath it, undo the move that created it immediately.
      • Repeat the process until moving in that direction creates a tile elsewhere.
      • Return the largest tile back to its original position and play on as normal.
  • Scoring
    • Each time you merge a pair of tiles, you gain the value of the sum of the two tiles merged together. For instance, if you merge two tiles with a value of 2, you receive 4 points.
    • Your best score updates in real time. Once you’ve sured your best score, it grows with your current score.
